The Laser Hair Removal Process
What to expect during treatment
Laser hair removal works by targeting the pigment within the hair follicle, gradually reducing the amount of hair that grows back over time.
The treatment area should be shaved prior to your appointment.
The technician will laser across the treatment area.
Hair will continue to grow normally for 7–14 days after treatment.
During this period the treated hair will begin to shed naturally from the follicle.
Once shedding occurs, most clients experience around 3–5 weeks of little to no hair growth.
Each treatment session gradually reduces the amount of active hair growth.
Treatment Timeline & Results
Sessions and the hair growth cycle
Laser hair removal works best when treatments are timed according to the hair growth cycle.
Results vary depending on hair type, skin type and hormonal factors.
Treatment Expectations
- Treatments usually begin 6–8 weeks apart
- As hair growth reduces, the time between treatments can gradually increase
- Each session reduces the percentage of hair growth in the treated area
Average Treatment Expectations
- 6–12 sessions for optimal results
- 1–3 maintenance sessions per year once the treatment course is complete
- Approximately 70-90% permanent hair reduction for many clients

Our Technology & Skin Types
Advanced laser technology for all skin types
At The Laser Base we use advanced triple wavelength laser technology, allowing us to safely treat a wide range of skin tones.
Our diode platform combines three laser wavelengths in one hand piece:
This allows our technicians to target hair at different depths while ensuring safe treatment for all skin types on the Fitzpatrick scale. Before treatment we also use a hair and skin scanner to analyse your skin and hair type, ensuring the laser settings are personalised for the safest and most effective results.
Laser vs Other Methods
Laser vs traditional hair removal
Many clients rely on shaving or waxing to manage underarm hair, but these methods require constant maintenance and can irritate the skin. Laser hair removal offers several advantages:
Reduced Skin Irritation
Laser treatments reduce the irritation often caused by shaving or waxing.
Long-Term Hair Reduction
Hair gradually becomes thinner and grows back less frequently.
Cost Effective Over Time
Laser treatments eventually transition to occasional maintenance sessions, rather than constant grooming.
Reduced Ingrown Hairs
Laser helps reduce the ingrown hairs commonly associated with shaving.
