Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some questions we are often asked by our customers.

  • During laser hair removal, the laser emits light that is absorbed by the pigment of the hair. The light energy is converted to heat, which damages the hair follicles. This damage inhibits or delays future hair growth.

  • Our Lumière lasers from Sculpt Pro provide you with 3 types of Laser

    • Alexandrite 755nm; light skin focused

    • Diode 810nm; all skin types

    • ND:YAG 1064nm; dark skin focused

This new technology means we can treat all skin types with ease.

  • In order for the Laser light to be absorbed by the hair, the hair has to have enough pigment. This means darker hair is more ideal for laser hair removal treatment.

    • Black hair – perfect for laser

    • Brown hair – perfect for laser

    • Blonde hair – may pick up if a dark blonde but will not pick up bleach blonde hair

    • Red hair – may pick up if dark but will need to be tested

    • Grey hair – will not pick up

  • We have triple wavelength lasers meaning we can treat all 6 skin types safely and effectively!

Skin tones 4-6 may require more sessions as settings will need to be adjusted to protect the skins pigment from burning/pigmentation. Although this is now extremely rare, as our new technology lasers can easily differentiate skin pigment from hair pigment, we will take precautions to protect your skin. But please bear in mind darker skin tones are more at risk of possible side effects when receiving laser as they are designed to heat pigment.

Our lasers have built in Alexandrite, Diode and ND:Yag lasers to treat skin types 1-6 on the Fitzpatrick scale and will use the laser best for your skin type.

  • The laser is heating up the hair inside the follicle so in some areas it can sting, we will try to make it as comfortable as possible for you but we will not advertise as pain-free as the hot sensation you feel is what is needed to effectively damage the follicle

The most uncomfortable areas can be the face, underarms and underneath of Hollywood. Laser is considered to be less painful than waxing and exfoliating.

  • We cannot proceed with treatment if you are pregnant, you will need to wait until 3 months post pregnancy to resume treatment.

  • Yes! Laser is recommended for those with hormone imbalances or excess hair growth caused by medication or medical conditions.

We can discuss this further at your consultation but please bear in mind those with these types of conditions may require more regular treatments / top ups as the treatment is hormone related. (this can include PCOS, POS, Endometriosis, thyroid issues, changes in hormones, menopause, disorders of the pituitary or adrenal gland, tumor of the ovary that makes extra androgens, severe insulin resistance, certain medications).

  • Yes! As long as the scars are fully healed we are able to go over these areas. C-section scars must also be 100% healed to be treated.

  • YES! Laser Hair Removal can be a crucial part of a transition, please contact us if you are currently transitioning or planning to so we can discuss your laser journey with you and when will be best for you to start treatment.
