Laser Hair Removal for Nipples: What You Should Know
Let’s be real—nipple hair is way more common than people think. Whether it’s hormonal, post-pregnancy, or just your natural hair pattern, it’s something we treat regularly at The Laser Base, and there’s absolutely no shame in it.
If you’ve been plucking, shaving, or feeling self-conscious about it, laser hair removal could be a long-term solution. Here’s everything you need to know about treating this delicate area.
✨ Why Do People Get Laser on the Nipples?
Nipple hair can be caused by a range of factors, and it affects all genders. Some of the most common reasons we see include:
Hormonal changes or imbalances (like PCOS, menopause or puberty)
Post-pregnancy regrowth, as hormones settle after giving birth
Men who want to reduce chest hair, especially if the nipple area is particularly dense or coarse
Trans women as part of gender-affirming care, particularly when softening or removing chest hair
⚡ How Laser Works on the Nipple Area
The laser targets the pigment (melanin) in the hair follicle, damaging it to slow and eventually stop regrowth. The skin around the nipple is very sensitive, so we’ll always work with a gentle and careful approach.
This area is considered hormonally influenced, which means results can vary a little more than areas like the legs or underarms. That said, most clients still see amazing progress over time with consistency.
Most people need 6–12 sessions for a strong reduction
Expect on average 1–3 yearly top-ups to maintain results if needed
You can typically expect around 80–100% permanent reduction
🧼 Prep & Aftercare
Before Your Appointment:
Shave the area 12–24 hours beforehand. This is important—no plucking, waxing or epilating.
The hair must be brown or black, and darker than your skin for the laser to pick it up.
Avoid sun exposure and fake tan a couple weeks before/after treatment.
After Your Appointment:
Expect the treated hairs to shed over the next 7–14 days
Avoid hot baths, tight clothing over the area, or intense workouts for 24–48 hours to avoid infection
Apply Aloe Vera to soothe the skin morning and night for 2 days post treatment and occasionally between sessions
We stock aloe vera gel and dermaplaning blades in clinic, so you can pick them up at your appointment to help with both preparation and recovery.
⏱ How Often Are Sessions?
Hair around the nipple doesn’t tend to grow back as quickly as facial hair, so we usually treat this area every 6–8 weeks.
As the hair reduces over your course of treatments, we’ll gradually space your sessions out further based on your progress.
🌈 Treating All Genders With Care
At The Laser Base, we treat all body types and all genders. Nipple and chest hair removal can be a really important part of someone’s journey, especially for trans women looking for a smoother chest as part of their transition.
For men, treating the nipple area is usually part of a wider chest treatment or to tidy thick or coarse hair around the areola that can cause discomfort or irritation.
If you’re ready to ditch the razor, avoid the awkward grow-out phase of waxing, and enjoy smoother skin every day, Hollywood laser is the ultimate long-term fix.
🧑⚕️ A Quick Consultation Comes First
Before we can start, you’ll need a consultation and patch test. This helps us make sure the treatment is safe and suitable for your skin and hair type. It only takes 15–20 minutes and gives you the chance to ask any questions.
If nipple or chest hair is bothering you, you’re not alone—and laser could be a long-term solution that saves you time, effort, and stress.
