Brazilian Laser Hair Removal: Everything You Need to Know

If you’re fed up with shaving, ingrown hairs, or high-maintenance wax appointments, Brazilian laser hair removal is the low-fuss, long-term alternative. Whether it’s for comfort, confidence or convenience, more and more people are choosing to go smooth—and stay smooth—with laser.

Here’s what to expect from Brazilian laser at The Laser Base, and how to get the best results from your treatment.

What Is a Brazilian Laser?

Brazilian laser removes all hair from the front (pubic area), labia and perianal (bum crack), leaving a thin, neat strip of hair at the front.

Some people refer to this as a “landing strip,” “rectangle,” or “custom shape”—whatever your preference, it’s important to decide before you start and keep that shape consistent throughout your course. This ensures we get clean, even results on every visit.

If you'd prefer to remove all hair from the area including the strip, that would be classed as a Hollywood (see our separate blog for that!).

⚡ Why Choose Brazilian Laser?

This area is one of the most popular we treat—especially for those who:

  • Want to avoid shaving rash, bumps, or ingrown hairs

  • Are tired of the discomfort and upkeep of waxing

  • Want to feel cleaner and more confident, all year round

  • Prefer a long-term solution instead of constant maintenance

  • Struggle with hair growth due to hormonesmedications, or PCOS

It’s completely personal—there’s no “right” reason. We’re just here to help you feel confident in your skin.

🔍 How Does It Work?

Laser targets the pigment in the hair follicle, using heat to damage the root and slow regrowth. With repeated sessions, this leads to permanent reduction.

  • Most clients need 6–12 sessions, spaced every 6–8 weeks (extending as the hair reduces)

  • The bikini area is hormonally influenced, so results can vary

  • You’ll likely need 1–4 top-ups per year to maintain smoothness

  • Most people see 80–100% permanent reduction with consistency

🧼 Pre-Treatment & Aftercare

This is a sensitive area, so correct prep and aftercare are key to getting smooth results without irritation.

Before Your Appointment

  • Shave the area 12–24 hours before, including the bum area

  • If keeping a strip, shave it to the exact shape you want to maintain, and keep it the same throughout your treatment course

  • Do not pluck, wax or epilate before or between sessions

  • Avoid sun exposure and fake tan for 2 weeks before

  • Avoid active skincare (acids, retinoids, etc.) for 1 week before

After Your Appointment

  • Hairs will begin to shed naturally over 7–14 days

  • Avoid tight clothing, hot baths, friction or sweating for 24–48 hours

  • Apply Aloe Vera morning and night for 2 days post-treatment, and as needed throughout your course to keep the skin calm and hydrated

  • No fake tan or sun exposure for 2 weeks after

  • Avoid active skincare for 1 week after

We stock aloe vera gel and dermaplaning blades (to neaten your line) in clinic—ask us at your appointment if you need one!

🧑‍⚕️ Consultation First, Always

Before you start laser, you’ll need to come in for a consultation and patch test. It takes around 15–20 minutes and helps us check your suitability, answer your questions, and ensure everything is safe.

If you’re ready to ditch razors, grow-out phases and awkward waxes, Brazilian laser could be the smooth solution you’ve been waiting for.
